The Highs and Lows of Having Curly Hair

We don’t know about you, but we love our curly hair! Even on days when it’s frustrating, it’s still an awesome gift from the curl gods. However, we know that even though we love our curls 98% of the time, there are still some frustrations to be had when rocking natural curls. Check out this fun list of highs and lows of having natural curls and let us know which you relate to most!

High: You’re always the center of attention. Everyone wants to talk to you about your hair, touch it and you rake in all the compliments. It’s good to be curl queen.

Low: Even when you want to go incognito, your adoring fans just can’t leave you alone. There are days when you just do not want a stranger all up in your business, am I right?

High: You can rock the boho look like no other. Your curls have a mind of their own but you know how to tame the beast to make it work for you. While other girls need volumizer, backcombing and curling irons to achieve the coveted festival look, you just clip your curls back and go. Lucky you.

Low: Even good curls can go bad. Some days, no matter how you try to persuade them, your curls are just going to do what they want. At that point, your best bet is a ponytail and a hat to stuff them under.

High: Less money spent on shampoo! Hey, you only wash your hair once a week, right? That means YOU get an extra latte from Starbucks because you’re so thrifty!

Low: Just kidding! All of that extra money you saved by using less shampoo and cleansing products goes right back into the heavy duty conditioner and curl styling products you rely on to keep your curls from turning into a giant frizzball. But what the heck, treat yourself to that latte anyway! You deserve it.

High: You’re never bored with your curls. You know your curls provide you with a wide array of styling options and this makes your days interesting! From topknots to low twists and everything in between, you’ve got it made in the shade when it comes to hair styles.

Low: Your curls have a mind of their own and frankly, they do what they want. For those days when curls get TOO excited, you end up putting them back into a bun. Which is like every day.

High: You only have to wash your curls occasionally. Life is grand for you; you get to hit snooze six extra times if you want in the morning, because you don’t have to wash your hair before work! You go, Glen Coco!

Low: On wash day, your soul and all your extra time belongs to your curls. It may only happen once a week, but during those times you’re beholden to your curl care regime to make sure your curls get clean in a healthy way that also makes them look awesome. If that means you’re missing out on wings and beers with your friends, so be it. You’re committed enough to amazing curls to make that sacrifice.
