While wash and go sounds pretty easy, it can sometimes be a challenge to get it to work right for your natural curls. Your time is precious and you want to get the best out of your curls without spending a huge amount of time on them.  A wash and go is a routine in which you cleanse your curls without using styles or manipulating your natural curl pattern. You can do this with damp or soaking wet curls, but the key is to have well moisturized curls. Check out this wash and go routine to get your best curls!

What to do:

  1.  Cowash: Use a pre made cowash or create your own to cleanse your curls without removing necessary moisture. Detangle your curls and don’t be afraid to add more conditioner to create slip. Rinse your curls with cold water to smooth down your cuticle.
  2. Flip and scrunch: After cleansing, flip your curls upside down and scrunch your favorite oil and leave in conditioner throughout while your hair is still soaking wet.
  3. Pineapple:  Gather your curls up on top of your head into the pineapple and wrap them with a microfiber towel or t-shirt to absorb extra water without creating frizz.
  4. Finish: Once your curls are almost dry, take them out and flip them back over. Allow them to settle into their natural pattern.

What to avoid:

When creating your wash and go style, try to avoid overusing products. Too much products can actually weigh your curls down and make them dull, dry, and greasy. Instead, opt for one or two tried and true favorites that you know will give your curls definition and shine. Additionally,c consider your application technique. If you’re struggling to get the shape you want in your curls, you might want to reconsider how you’re applying product.
