The easy routine for 4c curls

DAILY:

Taking care of your curls every day will help make the longer term care much easier. 4c curls need a bit more attention every day, but taking it in little bits will make it more manageable. Every day, moisturize your curls by misting them with water, or a moisturizing curl refreshing spray. Seal your ends with a bit of oil to maintain moisture levels. Overnight, sleep with a bonnet or a protective style like pineappling to keep your curls from becoming crushed or losing moisture.

WEEKLY:

To get ready for your weekly washing date, start with a prepoo. Allow it to sit for as long as your curls need to soften up. Olive oil is a great choice, and other curly girls recommend avocado oil as well. Cleanse with a cowash, or a gentle, low poo and conditioner. Massage your scalp to stimulate growth. With conditioner in your curls, work through any knots or tangles using your fingers or a wide toothed comb. Follow up with a deep conditioning treatment, and allow it to sit for at least 60 minutes. After rinsing out the product, use the LOC or LCO method to seal in moisture. Style your curls for either a wash and go, or a protective style.

MONTHLY:

Every month, treat your curls to a hot oil treatment and a scalp massage. This will remove build up, and encourage healthy growth. If you’re up to it, you can also try inversion to help increase blood flow to your scalp and encourage your curls to grow longer. As needed, add in extra moisturizing treatments if your curls are feeling dry, or a protein treatment when your strands are in need.
