We don’t know about you, but we are always looking out for the best ways to maintain our curls (with the least amount of work!). If you have naturally curly hair, you know how tough it can be to figure out which curl care regime works best for your types of curls. The LOC method will help keep moisture in, keep curl patterns intact and make sure everything’s hydrated as it should be!

What to do:

Leave in: After you’ve cleansed your curls using a paraben, sulfate free, curl friendly shampoo and conditioner, you’re going to want to gently blot your curls to remove excess moisture. Use an old, soft t shirt or a microfiber towel to avoid snagging your curls and roughing up the cuticle.  Select the right type of leave in conditioner based upon your curl type and apply throughout still damp curls.

Oil: Remember, leave in conditioner will help replace some of the moisture lost during cleansing and your daily life. Once the leave in has had a few moments to be absorbed, apply an oil from midshaft to tips. You can use a natural oil like almond or jojoba, or pick up an oil based serum. The oil will lock down your curl’s distressed cuticles back down, ensuring the moisture stays locked into your curls.

Cream: You’re not done yet! If you’ve got thick, kinky coils, you’re not going to want to skip any steps of this process. Once you’ve added in your oil, it’s time to layer on a cream based product. Pick something with a butter base, like shea, to provide a smooth, rich, creamy finish to your styling. Adding a thick butter as the finishing touch will help lock moisture in, and keep it from escaping over the next few days.
