Pack:

It’s going to be much easier for you to maintain your curls if you bring the things your strands are already accustomed to with you. Head to your local box store to raid their travel sample section. If there aren’t travel sized version of your favorite products, or you’d like to save some money and not buy a travel set, you can always get TSA approved bottles and package your curl products to bring with you. That way you can plan the exact right amount to bring in a carry-on or for your trip. That way you’ll be sure to have the products you’d like, and save some money for souvenirs.

Wash before:

Whenever possible, wash and style your curls the day before you travel, and don’t forget to bring your dry shampoo. This will give you a few days where you can allow your curls to be without having to wash them, and a dry shampoo can extend the life of your wash. If you’re going on a shorter trip, you might even be able to get away with waiting to wash again until you get home.

Use protective styles:

There are a lot of ways you can style your curls that’ll make it easier for you in the long run. For travel day, pineapple your curls or arrange your strands into a loose bun or braid. This will protect your curls from the elements, as well as rubbing against the seat of the plane or car. You could also try wrapping a scarf around your curls or tucking them into a silk-lined cap to protect them from the drier air while traveling.

Once you arrive at your destination, you can then shake your curls out and give them a spritz with a curl refreshing spray, or even use water in the palms of your hands to scrunch your curls back into style. For the day, you can try leaving your curls down, or a nice half up, half down style. For evening, a bun or a braid can change up your look, but keep your curls holding their shape as well.
