Curly Girl Hacks That Work Right Away

Only brush in the shower:

If you’re going to use a brush on your curls, do it only ion the shower while your strands are still completely saturated and coated with conditioner. This will allow your brush to work effectively to remove tangles or knots without creating frizz. Additionally, make sure you’re using a curly girl approved brush so as not to damage your strands.

Always use leave in conditioners:

We get it, you’re a busy girl without a ton of extra time. However, we can’t stress the importance of regularly and consistently using conditioner in your curls. Whether you opt to allow some rinse out conditioner to stay in your strands, or you use a leave in, this extra boost of moisture will deliver immediate results.

Common Curly Hair Problems And How To Fix It

Apply products to wet hair:

While this may seem a little strange, consider applying your curl care products before you leave the shower. The wetness will allow your strands to absorb more product, as well as active it. Apply your product, and then gently remove excess water by squeezing your curls.

Hands off:

This is something so many of us struggle with; keeping our hands off of our curls. While strands are drying, they’re particularly vulnerable to having their natural shape disrupted. Therefore, try to keep your hands out of your strands until your hair is 100% dry. Additionally, once your strands are dry, it’s best to avoid ruffling, brushing or disrupting your curls’ natural pattern.

Use a diffuser:

Although we generally don’t recommend using heat tools on your curls, there are times some heat can be really helpful. If you don’t have time to allow your curls to air dry, then use a diffuser to speed up the process. Use a low heat setting, and allow each curl to dry individually before moving on to the next. Once curls are dry, allow them to fully cool so they’re set before touching them.
