Growing curls can feel like quite the task. Curls are prone to a variety of issues that can slow them down when it comes to getting the length you want, such as shrinkage, breakage and damage. There are a lot of other reasons why curls struggle to grow, such as stress, hormonal imbalances, overuse of products or heat tools and lack of nutrition. If you're trying to grow longer curls, consider this easy DIY curl care mask.
How to make it:
2 tablespoons castor oil
1 large egg
1 tablespoon honey
You may need to adjust the amount of ingredients based upon the amount and density of your curls. For thicker or longer curls, feel free to add more in so you have enough mixture.
What to do:
This mask is super easy and most people have a lot of the ingredients already in their kitchen cupboards. To make this mask, mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and whisk together until smooth. Dampen your curls and section them out into even sections. Apply the mixture from roots to tips, making sure to coat every strand. Once your curls are completely saturated with the mask, cover with a plastic shower cap. Wrap a towel around your head to keep the warmth from your head trapped in, which will help activate the ingredients in the mask. Allow the mask to sit for 2-4 hours. You can also apply heat if you'd like, which will help the ingredients penetrate more deeply into your curl's cortex. This will encourage healthy curl growth with your scalp.
Once you've allowed the mask to sit for a time, rinse it off with cool water and a mild cleansing shampoo if needed. You can utilize this mask up to two times a week to encourage your curls to grow longer and stronger.
