Are you struggling with dry, dull curls? Do you feel as though your curls are a mess of frizz and split ends? If you're experiencing these problems, you might have damaged curls. If you aren't taking great care of your curls and have been coloring or heat styling them, odds are they might have some damage. However, not all hope is lost. While there are a lot of ways to get and maintain healthy curls, you can help the process along by making your own super healthy avocado mask.
- 1 medium avocado
- 1 egg
- 5 drops of rosemary essential oil
- 5 drops of sage essential oil
- 1 tablespoon of castor oil
What to do:
In a mixing bowl, add in the avocado, egg, castor oil and essential oil. Mix on high speed until all the ingredients are blended smooth. It should have the consistency of a smoothie.
Wash your curls using a mild, sulfate and paraben free shampoo. After they're cleansed, apply the mask onto your scalp until it's thoroughly covered, then spread the mask throughout your curls. Make sure to coat the ends as well. Once your strands are completely covered, pile them on top of your head, clipping them into place. Cover with a shower cap or towel, and allow to sit for an hour.
Remove the shower cap and rinse the mask out of your curls with a mild shampoo. Do not wash your curls with hot water, but instead with cool. If you use heat, the egg will stick to your curls, which will make it difficult to remove. You can use this mask up to once a week to help restore shine, moisture and strength to damaged curls.
