Have you ever styled your curls only to have them become a giant frizz ball? It’s frustrating, annoying, and downright irritating. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. If you’re ready to beat frizz and get defined curls, we’ve got you covered .

Step One:

Wash your curls with your favorite shampoo and follow up with conditioner. Use a microfiber towel to blot away excess water. Your curls should be damp, but not soaked. Avoid shampooing more than once a week; use a cowash on between days.

Step Two:

Coat your hands in a thin layer of curl defining gel and apply the gel throughout your damp strands. Press the product into your strands as opposed to rubbing it in by cradling your curls in your hands. Make sure to get product into the root, as you need it to create lift.

Step Three:

Once you’ve applied the gel throughout your hair, spray your curls with a light hold hair spray from roots to ends. You’re going to need to make sure you’ve got all your curls covered. If you spray just the top layer your curls might become heavy and limp. Allow this coating to dry for about 15 minutes.

Step Four:

Once the layer of hairspray has dried, you can hit your hair with your blow dryer with the diffuser attachment on. Focus on each individual area of curls, making sure they all dry. Once each area is completely dry, you can use the cold air setting to help set the curls in place.

Step Five:

Once your curls are completely dry, you can begin gently pulling them apart. This will help them not have a tight, crunchy look but instead will make them big, fluffy, and allow you to select the curls you want to define. Once you’re satisfied with how your curls look, you can cover them with another fine layer of hair spray. Enjoy your beautiful curls!
