We don't know about you, but we like to wear our curls for many days between washes. Wash days can be time consuming and if not done correctly, damaging to your hair. While some curly girls need to wash their hair more often, there are others can go longer stretches. Here's how you can wash your curls once and enjoy them for days.
Identify your needs:
A the days go on after your wash, your curls will probably increase in size and loose definition. You might also notice more frizz. You'll need to decide if you're ok with rocking less than perfect strands. If so, you can most likely go longer between washes. Curlies who do this tend to have thicker, tighter coils which makes it less likely for their curls to fall, are totally ok with frizz or fallen curls, and also tend to re wet their hair at some point between washes.
Utilize some tricks:
Have a few tricks up your sleeve for when it comes to taking care of your curls between washes. Invest in or make your own refreshing spray to help give your curls a breath of life every morning, as well as boost of hydration. This will help keep curls in shape for longer. Purchase and sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase to increase slip and reduce frizz due to lack of moisture, which can be created by cotton. For longer strands, pineapple your curls to keep them from tangling while sleeping. Those with shorter locks should tuck them into a satin bonnet or silk lined cap.
Invest in the right products:
It's all about finding and using the right products. For example, if you use a product that's too light, you run the risk of it not controlling your curls long enough. However, go too heavy and you're likely to have your curls get dragged down or look greasy within a matter of days. Try to figure out your curl's type and needs before purchasing products. Once you understand, you can work with your stylist, read product reviews, and consult with your curly haired friends to figure out which will work best for you.
