The Curly Hair Hacks You Must Know About

Have you ever seen a curly girl with hair so beautiful you wish yours could look the same? Don’t worry, curly girl! We’ve all been there. Having hair envy is completely normal. In order to get the best out of your curls, knowing some hacks can help. Here’s the curly hair hacks you must know about.

Add layers:

Over time and as length increases, curls tend to become weighed down. Adding in layers will allow for curls to bounce back, and showcase your hair.

Rinse correctly:

When shampooing your hair, make sure you’re focusing on massaging your scalp with shampoo. When it’s time to rinse, tilt your head back under the stream and allow the water to run through your curls to rinse out the shampoo. Make sure the water is cool or cold to close the cuticle back down.

Blot dry:

After showering, don’t jump out and rub your curls dry. Instead, focus on using a microfiber towel or tshirt to blot dry your curls. Cup your curls and squeeze them to remove excess water and help curls retain their natural shape.

Scrunch it:

When adding product to your curls, consider a mousse or a gel. These products will give you hold without creating crunch or stickiness.  When applying, put a quarter sized amount of product in the palm of your hands and rub together. Apply throughout your hair by scrunching, cupping your curls in your palms. You can follow up with a serum to help smooth tendrils and manage frizz.

Skip the brush:

Brushes aren’t a curly girl’s friend. A brush will disrupt your curl pattern, and create frizz. Instead of using a brush, select a wide toothed comb or work through knots with your finger tip. If you find your curls are particularly knotted, using conditioner to create slip.

Avoid heat tools:

Heat tools aren’t your friend. The heat can be incredibly damaging to delicate tendrils. Avoid heat in favor of letting your curls air dry, using rods to style your curls, or utilizing protective styles.
