Believe it or not, sometimes curly girls get frustrated with their hair. We hear from many curlies that they wish their hair was something different, but we want to encourage them all to love their locks for exactly what they are. Here’s how to make the most of your 4C curls. We  know you’ll love them as much as we do.

How To Make The Most Out Of Your 4C Hair

The right products:

Using the right products is half the battle. Your curls are generally thicker and coarser than other curly girls’ hair, which isn’t a bad thing! It just means you need to user thicker, more luxurious products to achieve the right kind of moisturizing and hold your curls need. If a product doesn’t work for you, give it a few tries before passing it off to another curly girl.

Section your hair:

Styling, cleansing, and hydrating your curls can be difficult. However, the process will go much smoother if you section your curls out. Depending on density and length, you’re going to want to divide your curls into 6-8 sections. This will make it much easier to work with your curls, as well as minimize the possibility for damage.

Prepoo before shampoo:

Before you even think about cleansing your curls, you need to prepoo with an oil. This will help protect your curls from being stripped during the cleansing process. SInce 4C curls tend to be on the drier side, you need to do whatever you can to protect them from excess moisture loss. Making sure your strands are sealed will help that.

Make sure to moisturize:

Your curls can’t get enough moisture. In fact, if your curls are dry they are more likely to become frizzy by seeking water from the atmosphere. Make sure to follow every shampoo with a deep conditioning treatment. On between days, your curls might need an extra boost of moisture. You can achieve this by spritzing them with a moisturizing spray or a leave-in conditioner.
