If you color your curls, you probably have those few days or even weeks between visits with your colorist where you have a root situation. It happens to just about everyone: it can be hard on your schedule and budget to constantly be going to the stylist for root touch ups. That being said, you don’t have to live with regrowth. Here’s how to hide regrowth between colors. Use these tips , and you might just be able to stretch your next salon visit out a few more days.

Add a hat:

When you’re not at work, a hat can be your best friend when it comes to covering up regrowth (bonus points for those of you who can get away with rocking a hat at work!). Add a couple of cute, comfortable, and chic hats to your wardrobe. Not only will you be gaining a cute accessory, you’ll also be able to hold out until it’s your turn in the chair.

Grab a scarf:

Another solution is to turn ones of those many scarves floating around in your top drawer into a super stylish head wrap. You can fold them over to create a headband, or wrap them around your head and tie them into a cute bow at the front, or back. Really, there’s a lot of great ways to style a scarf, and put them to use. This is also a great way to help battle the heat during the summer, or even to disguise the fact that you’ve skipped a wash day or two (been there!).

Fluff it up:

If your curls are lying closer to your scalp, it’s going to be really obvious there’s a need for a color refresh. To avoid this, fluff your curls up to enhance your volume. When your curls aren’t lying flat, you’ll be able to make sure the color isn’t showing. Flip your curls upside down, and gently lift from the scalp. You can also add a dry shampoo if you need more lift. There are some tinted dry shampoos on the market, so if you use one to hehlp soften the contrast between your natural and dyed color. Then, use a refreshing spray to help your curls pop back up.
