IF you’re trying to grow out your curls, you probably already know how frustrating it can be. While curly hair grows at the same rate as all other types of curls (if you’re healthy), it can be harder to see because of the coiled nature of your strands. Therefore, if you feel like your strands might be growing a bit sluggishly, and you’re in good health, it could be your strands need a bit of a boost. These are some effective ways to help grow curls. They might sound a bit out there, but one of the best things is that most of these ingredients you probably already have right in your home.

Effective ways to help grow your curls

Onion water:

Well, this one sounds a little odd, but hear us out. Take three whole, white onions and strip off the skin. Then, toss the onion into a blender, and pulse until they’ve become a soft pulp. Scoop the pulp out, and coat it throughout your curls, from roots to tips. Cover your curls with a plastic shower cap, and allow the mixture to sit for at least sixty minutes. Then, you can rinse out with warm water. If you need, use a gentle cleansing shampoo and follow with a conditioner.

Vinegar:

Vinegar is one of the greatest, all natural treatments out there. To get the softening, anti-fungal, anti-frizz benefits of vinegar, try this easy recipe. Combine 1 cup of vinegar with two cups of filtered water. After completely saturating your hair, you can pour the vinegar mixture throughout your strands, and massage it into your scalp. Allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse out. You can shampoo and condition as needed. This treatment can be done once a week to help reap the benefits, and works really well for those with a dry, distressed scalp.

Curry leaves and coconut oil:

Combine a handful of fresh curry leaves, and 1 cup of coconut oil. Boil these ingredients together, and eventually you’ll notice a black residue appear. This is what you want to see. Skim the residue off the product, and set it aside to cool. Apply the residue to your curls, starting at your scalp and massaging it throughout your strands. Allow it to sit for 30-60 minutes, and then wash it out. You can use this treatment once to twice a week to help facilitate quicker curl growth.
