Have you ever felt overwhelmed by trying to manage your curls? If so, you're not alone. Curls are amazing but they can also be difficult to handle. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you gain confidence in your curls and rock your strands!
Have you ever used a deodorant for awhile only to wake up one day and find it no longer works? Your curls build up a tolerance to certain products, much the same way your body builds up a tolerance to things like deodorant. This is a pretty easy fix: switch it up. Alternate your products occasionally to keep things fresh.
Make your own blend:
Essential oils are having a serious moment right now and that's because they're awesome. Create your own unique blend of coconut oil and essential oils based upon your curls' needs. For example, if you have a dry, itchy scalp you can use a blend of coconut oil, tea tree, and lavender to invigorate and help increase circulation to your scalp.
Go sulfate free:
When selecting your curl care products, try to pick ones that contain natural ingredients. Products that contain sulfates, parabens and other ingredients you can't spell or pronounce are frankly no good for your curls. Your products should be hydrating, gentle, and formulate especially for curls. Take the time to learn about your curl type and what your curls need before buying products. You'll save yourself a lot of time, energy, and aggravation.
It's no secret that curly hair is often dry. The natural oils on your scalp simply cannot make it down the strands to hydrate the coils the way oils can on straight hair. So you're going to need to help your strands out. Invest in or make your own curl refreshing spray, or spritz your curls with plain water a couple times a day to help keep them looking great.
