Avocados have a ton of health benefits. They are full of fantastic antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins. While there are more benefits in fresh avocados, if you don’t have one on hand you can also use avocado oil, which still has lots of great benefits.

Avocado oil is lighter than other oils, so it works great on a variety of curl types. Therefore, you can use it throughout your hair, including the scalp. One great way to use avocado is to warm the oil and apply it throughout your strands. Use your fingertips and massage it into your scalp. Don’t forget to focus on your edges, and other areas where you might have dryness or dandruff. After you’ve massaged and invigorated your scalp, pull the remainder of the oil throughout your strands.

Another way to use avocado oil includes adding essential oils. For example, if you have dandruff or a dry scalp, you can use peppermint, lavender, or tea tree. Apply a few drops of each oil, or just use one, and massage it into your scalp, then allow it to sit before washing with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.

If you notice your curls are particular prone to damage, or tangles, you can try using avocado oil to help manage those issues. Apply warm oil throughout your strands, but focus especially on areas where you have significant issues. Then, cover your curls with a plastic shower cap and apply more heat. If you have especially damaged curls, you can sleep with the shower cap on overnight. When you’re ready, use a wide toothed comb to remove the tangles.
