If you have curly hair, you’ve probably heard about how wonderful coconut oil is for your curls. For curlies with dry, damaged hair, coconut oil has been lauded as a miracle worker for how well it works to repair their brittle strands.

We put our curls through a lot through styling, using chemicals or heat and by exposing it to the elements. If you’re noticing your curls are starting to look dull, feels dry or straw like, it might be time to utilize this all natural, do it yourself curl care mask.

Most curlies find they only need to use this mask a couple of times before seeing great benefits and it’s easy to make with ingredients you may already have in your pantry.

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons virgin coconutoil

1.5 tablespoons organic honey

2 egg yolks (if you need a boost of protein)

Essential oil of your choice

Warm towel

What to do:

Melt the coconut oil in the microwave and pour into a bowl. Add in honey and mix until blended (this may take some time). Add egg yolk if you choose to use it and essential oil. Mix until all ingredients are incorporated. Wet curls and apply the mixture from roots to ends, thoroughly covering all strands. Wrap your curls in the warm towel and allow to sit for a minimum of 45 minutes. If your curls are particularly damaged, you can leave this treatment on overnight and cover with a plastic shower cap.

Once the treatment is done, you can rinse it out in the shower and shampoo with a gently cleaning product. Follow up with a conditioner. You can use this mask once a week to see smoother, shiner and easier to manage curls. Coconut oil also works great for a deep conditioner, pre poo and moisturizing aid.
