This past year has had a lot of us hanging out at home. Since it isn’t always easy to run out to the store to get your favorite curl care products, you can always make your own. Here’s the curly spray you can make at home. Not only is it super fun to make your own products, it puts you in control of exactly what you’re putting in your curls. Give this spray a try, and if you love it, make sure you let us know.

The curly spray you can make at home

If you’ve ever noticed how gorgeous your curls are after hitting the beach, you’re not alone. Salt water gives your strands more texture, and heft. Therefore, this spray calls upon salt to help give you the volume your curls need. However, it can also be super spendy to purchase in stores. What’s fortunate is that you can make it right at home. Here’s what you need to get started:

1 cup of distilled water

1 tablespoon of sea salt. While you can use other types of salt, if that’s what you have on hand, sea salt is the most preferred and seems to work the best

2 tablespoon oil. You can choose what works best for you, but fractionated coconut oil, jojoba, almond, avocado, or even olive oil are all good choices

What to do:

Gather together all your ingredients, and use a funnel to pour them into a spray bottle. For longevity and the most eco-friendly option, use a glass spray bottle. Shake it up, and store in the fridge to avoid mold if it’s going to take you some time to use.

Before using, shake to mix it up again. Then, apply throughout damp curls and allow to air dry. It’s really that simple! For non washing days, you can spritz throughout your dry curls, and scrunch to refresh your strands.
