What you’ll need:

2 tablespoons aloe vera gel

2 tablespoons organic coconut oil

5-10 drops essential oils of your choosing

2 tablespoons shea butter

What you’ll do:

Take a small bowl and mix all of the ingredients. You might need to soften, but not melt, the coconut oil and shea butter prior to blending. Using a hand mixer, blend until all the ingredients are completely incorporated. Once blended, store in an air tight container, such as a mason jar.

How to use it:

Once you’ve made your product, the fun really begins! Wash your curls and condition as you usually do. Squeeze excess water from your strands so curls are wet, but not soaking. Section your curls into 6-8 even sections. Beginning from the mid shaft down, apply the curl cream. If you have particularly dry or frizzy curls, you can apply from the roots down. Make sure to completely cover all your curls. As you apply the product, twist your curls around your finger to encourage your natural curl pattern.

Once you’ve applied the curl cream, you can allow your hair to air dry, or use a diffuser to lock your curl shape into place. This cream also would work well for styling curls into knots, twist outs, or other low manipulation protective styles.
