Are you feeling as though your curls are a bit weighed down, or not growing very fast? If so, you might want to consider a scalp detox. Over time, product, dead skin cells, and natural sebum deposit on your scalp. If it isn't regularly removed, this can clog the pores on your scalp. Remember, your scalp is skin too, and needs to be regularly cleansed and taken care of. Make this cinnamon scalp detox today!
When the scalp is detoxed, this removed excess build up and product. A fresh scalp is able to breathe, and this also encourages blood flow. You can create this DIY scalp detox easily, with items you already have in your pantry.
Make This Cinnamon Scalp Detox Today
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon virgin olive oil
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
What to do:
Get a small bowl, and add in all ingredients. Blend together until you've created a paste. It will have a slightly gritty consistency from the baking soda, but this is a good thing. If the paste seems a bit dry or you have very thick coils, add more olive oil as needed.
How to use:
This product is best used fresh, so mix it up right before you want to start your detox. Section your curls into 4-6 even sections, and keep your hair dry. Apply the product directly to your scalp, and massage in. Make sure to take your time, and work in slow, even circles. Use your fingertips to scrub it in. Allow the product to sit for about 10 minutes.
If you notice you're experiencing dandruff, you can also add a couple drops of tea tree oil to help treat the fungus that creates dandruff. Additionally, you can experiment with castor oil or other essential oils to treat various scalp issues.
After the 10 minutes is up, get in the shower and completely saturate your strands with warm water. Use your favorite shampoo to rinse away any product and follow up with your favorite deep conditioner. Rinse with cool water to soothe your scalp and close your cuticles.
