There are a ton of amazing products out there on the market for curly hair. However, there are also a lot that aren't so great. Therefore, you might want to think about cutting out the middle man and creating your own products. It's easier than you think, and you might even be surprised by some of the ingredients you already have on hand. This is how to make your own curl custard. Give this super easy recipe a try, and make sure to let us know if you love it.

What you'll need:

1/4 cup flax seeds

2 cups filtered water

1 tablespoon aloe vera gel

1 tablespoon taw honey

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon shea butter

1/2 tablespoon coconut oil

10 drops of your favorite essential oil

What to do:

This really couldn't be any easier. Collect and measure your ingredients. Start by creating a flaxseed gel base. Do this by boiling the flaxseed with 2 cups of water, until it creates a thick slime. Allow it to cool. Then, strain the gel with a fine strainer. This will remove the seeds, and leave behind a smooth gel.

Melt the shea butter and coconut oil together in a double boiler, mixing until smooth. After the butter and oil have completely blended, remove from heat and allow to cool for a minute or two. Then, you can mix together the butter blend with the flaxseed gel. Use a mixer to blend until the ingredients are whipped together. It will have the consistency of a thick cream. Scoop out and put into an airtight jar. A widemouthed Mason jar works great. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before using. When you're ready to use it, apply throughout freshly washed curls, and style as usual!
