Whether you want more control over what goes into your strands, or you're thinking about being more sustainable, creating your own curl care products is the way to go. When you make your own products, you're in control of exactly what goes into it, which means you're in control of what goes onto your curls. Here's how to make your own curl custard. Give it a try, and let us know what you think.
How to make your own curl custard:
To get started, you're going to need a few ingredients. Grab 1/4 cup of flaxseeds (whole, not ground), and combine it with 1 cup of water. Allow it to sit until a gel begins to form. Then, using a fine strainer, strain off the water and discard. You'll be left with a transparent gel.
Then, take the gel and put it in a bowl. Add in 1 tablespoon of aloe vera, followed by 1 tablespoon of raw, organic honey. Mix gently, adding in 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and then 1 tablespoon of shea butter. The shea butter should be soft, but not completely melted. If you need, you can use a hand mixer to help incorporate it.
Once the consistency is fluffy, add in 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil, and then 10 drops of your favorite essential oil. That's it! Mix until everything is fully combined, and store in a tight jar. Make sure to keep your product in a cool, dry place, and mix as needed. Use as you would any curl activator or curl custard to enjoy soft, smooth, and shiny curls!
