When you have curly hair, wash days can feel like a time consuming chore. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. With a good wash day routine, you can breeze through and be on your way. Here’s how you can enhance your conditioner to get the most of of your conditioner.

How to enhance your conditioner :

Oils:

If you’re noticing your conditioner doesn’t give enough slip or doesn’t work super well to detangle, you don’t have to throw it away. Instead, consider adding in some oils. Oils will create slip, allowing you to work through stubborn nots and tangles. Rather than adding oil directly to your conditioner, put product in your hand, and then add in the oils you want to use. Mix and apply to your curls from mid shaft down. You can try jojoba, almond, castor, and olive oils.

Heat:

There are a few different ways you can utilize heat in your conditioning routine. In this case, heat can be helpful. If you want to stay in the shower, add the conditioner and allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes while you finish up. Rinse with cool water to close down the cuticle and help your curls retain moisture. You can also try steaming your curls. This will help by softening the cuticle, allowing the moisture to deeply penetrate your hair. Once you’re done, make sure to cool your curls down.

Use a humectant:

Humectants are beauty products that help retain moisture by absorbing it from the atmosphere. If you’re noticing your conditioner isn’t as moisturizing as you’d like it to be, you can add a humectant into your own product. Add in honey or a glycerin to your conditioner by mixing it into the conditioner in your hand.
