DIY is more than a trend; it’s a lifestyle! Especially when it comes to your curls. It’s important to think about what you’re putting on your hair and curl care products are no exception. More and more curlies are embracing natural and organic curl care products or making their own. By making your own products, you can control exactly what ingredients go into it, which keeps out yucky chemical ingredients that often do more harm than good. Here’s a recipe for a DIY curl care mask that’ll help your curls grow long and strong. Give it a try and let us know in the comments how it worked out for you.

Ingredients:

2 organic eggs

2 bananas without peel

2 avocados

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup almond milk

What to do:

Crack the eggs into a bowl and whisk. Once blended, mash up the bananas and avocados. Pour the egg mixture, bananas and avocado into your blender. Blend until smooth and then add in the mayonnaise. Blend again until the ingredients are incorporated, then add in the almond milk. Blend until you have a smooth, creamy texture. If you’re not going to use all of the mask right away, scoop into a resealable container, like a mason jar. Store in the fridge for up to a week. Throw it back into the blender if the ingredients separate.

To use:

To use this mask, start by washing your curls with a gentle, paraben and sulfate free shampoo. Once curls are cleansed, apply the mask throughout your curls, making sure to get all the strands completely covered. Allow the mask to sit for 1 hour minimum. You can also cover your curls with a shower cap and apply heat. Once the mask has been allowed to sit, rinse with cold water to remove all the product and keep your cuticle sealed down. You can use this mask once a week for three to four months to see increased shine, decreased frizz, and longer, healthier curls.
