We don’t know about you, but we like any type of curl care product that we can make at home. Even better are when those products require only 4 ingredients! When you make your own products, you can control exactly what goes into them, knowing for sure your curls are getting only the best. Here are some of our favorite recipes for DIY curl care products that use only 4 of these all natural ingredients but deliver great results.

What you need:

Extra virgin olive oil

Extra virgin coconut oil

Unrefined shea butter

Aloe vera gel (fresh or bottled)

Recipes:

Detangler:

4 tablespoons coconut oil

4 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons shea butter (melted)

Mix the products together in a bowl and apply completely throughout your damp curls. Cover and allow to sit for an hour or overnight. Shampoo out in the morning and enjoy softer, more manageable curls.

Deep conditioner:

¼ cup olive oil

¼ cup aloe vera gel

You can adjust the amount of ingredients needed based upon the amount of hair you have; add more if you have lots of curls and less if you have shorter or finer curls. Mix these ingredients together until smooth, then apply directly to damp curls following cleansing. You can use it as a leave in conditioner, or cover with a cap, apply heat and allow to sit for 30 minutes to an hour to get the effects of a deep conditioner. Rinse and style as normal.

Refreshing spritz:

1/4 cup aloe vera gel

1/4 cup water

Put the ingredients into a clean, empty spray bottle. Shake the bottle to make sure all the products are completely mixed. Spray throughout your curls to help breathe some life back into dry, sensitized curls. In order to get a longer shelf life out of your spray, store in the fridge and shake well before each use to remix the ingredients.
