Curls are almost always in need of some extra moisture. Fortunately, there’s a lot that can be done to reintroduce moisture into curls. Even better, this product can be made at home with minimal ingredients. Here’s the three ingredient mask for curls you have to try. Give it a whirl, and let us know what you think.

The Three Ingredient Mask For Curls

Ingredients:

1 cup warmed, raw, organic honey

1/2 cup aloe vera gel, freshly squeezed

1/4 cup silicone free conditioner of your choice. Shea butter would also work in lieu of the conditioner

What to do:

In a double boiler, warm the honey until it’s almost liquefied. Transfer to a glass bowl, and add in one cup of aloe vera gel, and the conditioner or shea butter. Work together until completely smoothed. This is a great time to adjust ingredients based upon your individual curl’s needs and length. For longer curls, you might want to increase the amount of product for coverage. For shorter, feel free to cut back on product.

If your curls are particularly dry or frizzy, consider adding in more honey to help smooth distressed strands. Essential oils can be added for their healing properties. Lavender, chamomile, and rose are all excellent choices for soothing an irritated scalp. Additionally, peppermint or tea tree can help break up build up or dandruff that leads to itch.

How to use:

Carefully detangle curls. Separate into 5-6 even sections or more, depending on length and thickness of curls. Apply the product to dry curls from roots to tips. Cover all strands with the product. Massage the product into your scalp. Cover with a warm, slightly damp towel, and allow to sit on curls for 60 minutes or more. Adjust the time accordingly, based upon how dry your strands are.  Rinse with warm water, shampoo, and condition as you normally would.
