If you have curly hair, you've probably heard of the Curly Girl Method. While a lot of curly girls are interested in trying it out, it can feel a bit overwhelming to get started, since there are a lot of ways to approach it. It can also seem like there's a lot of rules for a curl care method. However, it doesn't have to be hard. To help break it down, here's the dos and don't of using the Curly Girl Method.

Read the book:

There are a lot of blogs and Pinterest finds about the Curly Girl Method. However, to fully understand it you might want to think about grabbing a copy of the book to give yourself a solid foundation.

Read online:

After you've read the book, don't hesitate to use the internet to help further your research. Learn from others, find your people, and learn to love your strands.

Don't be afraid to try:

Sometimes when we start something new, it can make us hesitant to try out products, or techniques. However, you shouldn't be afraid to give new things a try when you're using the Curly Girl Method. Try out new products, give a new technique a try, and experiment to find what works best with your curls.

Don't spend a ton:

As fun as it can be to add products to your cart or basket, you really don't need a lot to get started with the Curly Girl Method. While you're trying to figure out what works for your curls, you might need some different products. Therefore, don't spend a ton until you know for sure what you want, and what products will work best for you. Go cheap!

Don't quit too soon:

Whether you've been wearing your hair curly for awhile now, or you're new to it, it can take some time to get used to the Curly Girl Method. Therefore, don't quit too soon! Give yourself some time for your curls to get used to what you need, and to don't call it quits before giving it a real chance.
