Are you absolutely over it when ti comes to frizz? If so, you’ve come to the right place. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with frizzy hair, and in fact many curly girls embrace this aspect of their natural texture. However, if frizz isn’t something you want to deal with, plopping your curls can go a long way towards helping manage it, as well as holding their natural shape. Here’s how to plop for frizz free curly hair.

First things first: what is plopping?

Glad you asked. Plopping is a technique using a t-shirt to help dry curls. It’s heat free, so it doesn’t damage your curls, and ploppers find their curls are shiny, healthy, and hold their natural shape really well. Best of all, there’s minimal frizz when using this method.

_Second question: how can you plop?

Luckily, plopping is actually a very easy technique. Remember, if you don’t have naturally curly or wavy hair, you’re most likely not going to find as much success with this method as curly haired girls do. After washing and deep conditioning your curls, you can gently scrunch your strands upwards with a microfiber towel or t-shirt to remove excess water. Add in any styling products you may use, such as mousse or gel.

Then, lay a t-shirt spread out on the bed, and flip your curls over. You’ll be essentially plopping them onto the t-shirt. Allow the curls to gently pile up on the t-shirt, creating a pile on where the crown of your head will be when you stand back up. Gather the t-shirt up, and tie it off onto the back of your head. All of your strands should be encapsulated into the t-shirt. Allow the curls dry until about 80% dried, and then carefully remove the t-shirt. You can then let your strands finish air drying, or you can use a diffuser to finish it up.
