How To Make Flaxseed Gel With Honey

What you’ll need:

1/3 cup flaxseeds

2 cups filtered water

1/2-1 tablespoons honey

1/2 teaspoon olive oil or shea butter

10 drops essential oils

What to do:

To get started, take the flaxseeds and combine them with the filtered water. Mix well, and then allow the mixture to sit. It should take about 30 minutes, but allow it to sit longer if needed. Then, using a fine mesh strainer, drain off any excess water and filter out the seeds, you should be left with a clear gel. Place the gel into a bowl, and add in the remaining ingredients. Gently mix until completely incorporated. This is a great time to experiment with different types of essential oils based upon your curl’s needs. For example, you could try lavender for soothing, peppermint to invigorate your scalp, and chamomile oil for irritated scalp.

After you’ve created your gel, scoop it into a resealable jar. To use, remove a small amount, rub it between your palms, and apply it throughout your curls. Scrunch upwards to help your curls take shape, and then allow to air dry or use a diffuser on low heat to finish drying.
