Sometimes curls can fall, or be difficult to define. There are a lot of things that can contribute to fallen curls. Damage, lack of moisture, too much protein, and other factors can make it difficult for curls to retain their shape. Here's how to get defined curls. This DIY mask is something you can make right in your kitchen to help your curls retain their natural shape.
How To Get Defined Curls
What you need:
- 1 cup bentonite clay
- 4-5 tablespoons organic apple cider vinegar
- 3 tablespoons carrier oil
What to do:
First of all, mix all ingredients together in a bowl until completely incorporated. As a result, the mixture should be smooth and easy to apply. Add or reduce ingredients based upon how much hair you have.
Wet curls and apply conditioner. Detangle until curls are free of any snarls. Rinse curls to remove any conditioner.
Once curls are completely detangled, section into 4-6 sections.
Apply the mixture throughout your strands. Go section by section, being sure to coat each and every strand completely.
Once your curls are completely covered, tuck curls underneath a plastic cap and allow to sit 30-60 minutes. If your curls are particularly dry or damaged, you can leave this treatment on overnight for an extra boost of moisture and shine.
Wash away with a gentle cleansing shampoo and use conditioner as needed. Squeeze out excess water and style curls as normal. As a result, you should see an immediate increase in your curl pattern and style-ability of your strands.
