For all of you who are the partners of us curly haired girls, we want you to know we appreciate you (and also remind you how lucky you are!). If you’re so blessed as to have a curly girl in your life, you’ll recognize and relate to these ten signs about our general awesomeness.
1. You find curly hair everywhere: You discover it in your car, in your shower and in your bed. Consider our left behind curl strands our little gift to you. If you see a lot of hair lying around, don’t lose your cool. Curlies shed up to 100 strands of hair per day.
2. You know things people with straight hair don’t: You know more than you ever thought possible about curly hair care, including the terminology, which products from your pantry we’ll use for a deep conditioning treatment and why we are so in love with coconut oil.
3. You’re prepared for any disaster: A sudden downpour? You’re there with an umbrella, jacket or bag to help us cover our curls and you can appreciate why we try to avoid getting them wet. Thanks for helping us in the ongoing battle against frizz.
4. You have a newfound appreciation for satin: You no longer think it’s weird that we stuff our curls into a satin lined bonnet before hitting our satin pillowcases. In fact, you’re starting to think that you might also want a satin pillowcase because they look so comfortable, not to mention extra fancy. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone.
5. You know how to touch our curls: Running your fingers through our curls is a recipe for disaster, not to mention frizz. You’ve mastered the art of petting our curls to preserve our curl pattern and we love you for it.
6. You understand we won’t wash our curls everyday: Or every other day. Sometimes we won’t even wash them weekly, and you know that doesn’t make us dirty. We’re just preserving our natural oils and keeping our curls from drying out.
7. You’ve accepted our obsession with product: We will always have more curl care products than you, or probably anyone else you know. They’ll take over the shower and the counter tops, but you’ve come to accept that. Every product has a purpose and we use them all regularly.
8. You have patience with our curl care regimes: Wash day can be a long and tedious process, not to mention our biweekly deep conditioning sessions. You no longer wonder why it takes so long and have perhaps even learned a little about caring for curly hair.
9. You know each day our hair will be a surprise: It’s the same for us. We never know how our curls are going to turn out and it’s as much a surprise to us as it is to you. Thanks for embracing the mystery.
