Step 1: Nicolette recommends starting this style off right, with a good cleansing and conditioning. She uses a moisturizing shampoo, strengthening conditioner and a hair masque with keratin for extra strengthening. Using these products leaves her curly hair clean and softened for styling. Before starting the styling process, Nicolette uses a leave in conditioner to help define curls and enhance their elasticity. You can allow your curls to air dry before styling, or use a hair dryer with a diffuser set on low heat to dry your curls.

Step 2: Once curls are dry, section them. You’ll want to divide them evenly between top and bottom. Clip off the top half to use later. For additional shine and to control frizz, use a product with hydrating oils like coconut or avocado. A styling creme will help control frizz.

Step 3: Section the bottom part of your hair, and secure it with an elastic. Work your way up your curls, sectioning and securing each area as you move upward. Once you’ve create a stacked twist, secure the top section with bobby pins. To achieve tighter curls, you can slather the top section with curl gel, and sit under a dryer until they’re set. If you don’t want to take that extra step, use a curl defining gel to enhance your natural curls. Once curls are dry, use a pick to achieve the amount of volume and bounce you want!
